be relentless

Living Relentless

It is disheartening to me at times to see people around me who don’t understand the word relentless. The dictionary will tell you that the meaning of the word is “oppressively constant or incessant.” My definition is much more broader than just incessant.

When I wake up in the morning my body hurts and my mind is screaming at me to just lay in bed for another 5 minutes. It’s okay my mind will tell me. What is 5 more minutes? This is when you have to double down on intestinal fortitude and force yourself to get moving. If you have times in your life when you accept just ‘5 more minutes’ you will be okay with accepting average for yourself.

When I’m at the gym and I don’t want to do that last rep. When my body is on the verge of shutting down and I’m almost passing out. Do I just tell myself it is okay, you’ll get it tomorrow? Fuck no. I take a deep breath, hold my core tight, and let my mental resilience carry me to the end.

When my ex wife is telling me that it is okay for our daughter to eat fast food because it is showing her moderation, do I just yell and scream at her? Nope. I take a huge breath and calmly explain that fast food isn’t even food and that I would appreciate it if she would just consider healthier options for our child.

Relentless is smashing your whole being forward no matter what. Let your body tell you when you are done. Doing just 10 reps because you can is stupid in my opinion. Push until there is nothing left in the tank and GO DO ONE MORE! It means realizing that something happening in your life only creates a barrier if you don’t work on overcoming it. It means listening when you want to talk and it means being quiet when you want to be loud.

Figure out what you want to do in life and go get it.

Be Relentless as if your life depends on it.

Because it does.
